“Survivors Don’t Need Fixing. They Need Each Other”.

This week in our Survivor Steps programmes we’ve been exploring the theme of connection. It’s a word that gets thrown around a lot - but for survivors of domestic abuse, connection is not just comforting. It’s transformational.

When you’ve lived through abuse - emotional, physical, financial or otherwise - the isolation that follows can be just as devastating as the experience itself. You lose your confidence. Your sense of self. Often, you lose the community around you too. That’s why survivor networks - safe, trauma-aware spaces to connect with others who just get it - are so powerful.

In our classes this week, we’ve seen first-hand what happens when women come together in a room and realise they’re not alone. You can feel the shift - how people move, speak, and carry themselves - when they’re in a space where they don’t have to explain the unspoken. Connection builds safety. And safety builds healing.

That’s what we’re doing at The Dandelion Project. We’re rebuilding lives, one shared experience at a time.

But here’s the truth: I can’t be everywhere at once. Our in-person programmes are changing lives, but I know there are so many more people out there still searching for that kind of community - who can’t travel, who aren’t ready to walk into a physical space yet, or who need support from the comfort of their own homes.

That’s why I’m excited to tease something new. We’re in the early stages of developing an online programme and digital survivor network, designed to reach more people, more often, in more ways. It’s about taking what works in the room - trust, laughter, movement, community - and translating that into something accessible, empowering and impactful online.

We’ve already seen just how much online connection matters. Over on TikTok, our content has reached thousands since we launched in April. The comments, shares and messages tell me one thing loud and clear: survivor networks are needed. The need for real, relatable, trauma-aware content is bigger than ever. And people are craving that connection.

If you’re not already with us there, come joining the community “Be More Dandelion”. it’s  raw, it’s real and it’s resonating.

Whether you’re a survivor yourself, supporting a loved one or working within communities, health or business - it’s time to shine a light on the power of survivor-led healing.

Connection isn’t a luxury. It’s a lifeline.

At The Dandelion Project, we’re creating spaces for survivors to rise, reconnect and rediscover who they are - not who they were told to be.

If you’re reading this and thinking of someone - your colleague, your client, your friend or even yourself - send them our way. Share this post. Signpost our work. Follow along. Support us as we continue to grow.
